Located south of the city of Puebla, Mexico, radiocarbon assays from this site have produced astonishingly early dates for man’s presence in the New World. A date of 36,000 be for the earliest level seems to confirm the proposition that a migration across the Bering Land Bridge in the warm interstade before the last glacial advance, did indeed take place. A succeeding level, containing bifacial and stemmed points, has been dated 19,850 be. This later date is supported by similar evidence at Tlapacoya However, stratigraphic and areal associations at Valsequillo are much less than ideal; consequently these dates are not widely accepted.
