A type of megalithic chamber tomb shaped like an upturned boat with rounded prow and squared stern, peculiar to the island of Minorca and dating to the earlier part of the Bronze Age c 2200-1500 BC. Navetas found on the Balearic Islands date from c 1500-800 BC. Each had an elongated U-shaped plan, a vault roofed by corbelling and a flat or slightly concave façade. The gallery-shaped burial chamber is approached by a corridor through the thickness of the wall, and there is occasionally a porthole slab partially blocking it. The best preserved example is Els Tudons.

A type of megalithic tomb found on the island of Minorca during the Bronze Age (see megalithic monuments). It takes its name from its shape, which resembles — a little — an upturned boat. Navetas were built of Cyclopean masonry and contained long chambers with corbelled roofs. The best preserved example is Els Tudons.
