added by archaeologs A little-known king of the Sumerian city of Ur, whose richly furnished grave in the Royal Cemetery was excavated by Woolley. His name does not appear in the Sumerian king list and it is therefore suggested that he might have been a local ruler who reigned before the First Dynasty of Ur, perhaps c2650 bc. The most notable find from the deep shaft grave was a helmet beaten from a single sheet of gold and decorated with repoussé work and chased decoration.
