The Japanese name for type of bottle with narrow neck, high shoulders, and pinched-in base. Meipin were originally a Chinese creation, popular in the Sung, Yuan, Ming periods and beginning of T'sing. The shape spread to Korea (Koryo celadons) and to Japan. Some were made in the kilns.
