Cave site in northeastern Zaire in the Ituri forest, containing a long sequence of predominantly microlithic Later Stone Age industries extending back to c 40,000-3000 BP. It represents one of the earliest such occurrences in sub-Saharan Africa. The appearance of true backed microliths is dated prior to 19,000 BC. The levels of c 21,000-12,000 BP have decorated bored stones and drills.
