Vizier, sage, astrologer, and architect of the first pyramid, the Step Pyramid of Djoser (2630-2611 BC), the second king of Egypt's 3rd Dynasty. He was chief minister to Djoser and was later worshipped as the god of medicine in Egypt and Greece (Asclepius). Manetho credits him with the invention of building in dressed stone and he is considered the designer of the first temple of Edfu, on the upper Nile and the architect of the step pyramid built at the necropolis of Saqqarah in the city of Memphis.
