Eburran

An East African obsidian industry of the central Rift Valley, Kenya, previously known as the 'Kenya Capsian' and before that as the 'Kenya Aurignacian'. Its time span is the 13th-8th millennia BC. The assemblages, as recovered from Gamble's Cave and Nderit Drift, comprise large backed blades, crescentric microliths, burins, and end-scrapers.

A recently proposed name for an idiosyncratic obsidian industry of the central Rift Valley, Kenya, previously known as the ‘Kenya Capsian’ and before that as the ‘Kenya Aurignacian’. Both these former names implied a connection with distant industries which is not upheld by recent research. The distribution of the Eburran is restricted to a small area around Lake Nakuru, and its timespan to between the 11th and the 8th millennia be. The assemblages, as recovered from Gamble’s Cave and Nderit Drift, comprise large backed blades, crescentic microliths, burins and end-scrapers.
