A site near Rongai in the Rift Valley highlands of central Kenya, dated late in the 1st millennium ad. Domestic cattle were herded in large numbers. The associated pottery is unlike that found on Pastoral Neolithic sites: the relatively small number of chipped obsidian artefacts recovered suggests that iron may have been known to the site’s inhabitants.
