A class of metal object frequently found in pagan Saxon graves in the Anglian areas of England as well as on the continent of Europe. They consist of flattened rectangular or triangular pieces of bronze frequently gilded or inlaid with silver and decorated with animal ornament. Their function was to fasten the cuffs of tunics.
