The son and successor of Ur-Nammu, who founded the Ur III dynasty. He gained control over the economy of the empire and extended his holdings up the Tigris River and through the Zagros Mountains. His most important victory was over Elam. The empire collapsed during the reign of Shulgi's third successor. The empire only existed from c 2112-2004.
