The principal wife of Rameses II (1279-1213 BC), often depicted at his side for at least the first 20 years of his reign. The smaller temple at Abu Simbel (in Nubia) was dedicated to her and the goddess Hathor. Rameses also built a magnificent tomb for her in the Valley of the Queens (in Thebes). She was probably the only royal wife, apart from Tiy, to be deified in her lifetime.
